24 May 2025, Munich. The Munich Kangaroos Football Club hosted the anniversary match celebrating 30 years of Australian Football in Germany. The two inaugural clubs, the Frankfurt Football Club e.V. and Munich Kangaroos Football Club e.V., both founded in 1995, played the first Australian Football match in Germany on 23 June 1996 in Frankfurt’s Ostpark. Back then, the Munich Kangaroos won 9.16 70 to 8.6 54. 30 years later, Munich uses the home advantage to win convincingly after four quarters of football.
However, today not only the men’s teams played, but also the women’s teams of the Munich Kangaroos and the Frankfurt Redbacks, standing for the astonishing development Australian Football has seen in Germany in the last 30 years. This women’s match was also won by a dominant Munich Kangaroos team.
